FAQ

  • Do you accept insurance?

We do not file with insurance but we will assist you in submitting your first 5 claims for possible reimbursement. We do accept HSA or FSA and self-pay.

At PFC, we choose to operate as a non-insurance practice. This means no insurance referrals needed, no co-pay hassles and care without the need for insurance provided. The freedom from being under an insurance umbrella allows the doctors at PFC to provide customized and quality care to individuals the way they need it. You may always ask for an itemized receipt or superbill to submit to your insurance company yourself for a possible reimbursement.

  • What is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is provided by a licensed health care professional. Chiropractors treat problems related to the musculoskeletal system. The doctors will provide a spinal manipulation called an adjustment and can offer other forms of care such as exercise and nutritional counseling. An adjustment is accomplished by applying sustained pressure followed by a gentle thrust to specific joints. The adjustment is designed to improve joint motion and can be delivered to any joint within the body that is in need. At our office, we specialize in The Webster Technique. The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/SI joint dysfunction. In doing so, neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is facilitated. Are you new to chiropractic care? We offer free consultations to answer any question you may have.

  • What should I expect on the First and Second visit?

On the first visit, a detailed health history will be obtained, a postural analysis will be performed, an examination will be performed, necessary orthopedic or neurological tests will be conducted and a working diagnosis will be formulated by the doctors. If cleared, an adjustment will be provided to the client.

When you return for the follow up visit, the doctors will discuss their report of findings with you in regards to your complaint. Together, a plan of care will be developed. Any and all questions are always welcomed.

  • Is Chiropractic Care safe?

The doctors at PFC take pride in doing research and attending conferences to keep up to date on the newest techniques for adjusting. Did you know that Chiropractic care is the safest form of health care available. Why is this, you ask? Chiropractic care is non-invasive and does not use drugs to achieve health as opposed to medical care. Medical care may use surgery and/or prescription drugs to achieve health.

  • Does Chiropractic Care hurt?

It is rare for an adjustment to cause discomfort. Many clients state they feel relief immediately after. Some soreness may occur after an adjustment. It can feel like you just worked out for the first time in a long time. We recommend you drink plenty of water and use an ice pack when needed.

  • Should I try Chiropractic Care first before seeing a medical doctor?

The doctors at PFC work with many medical doctors, dentists, physical therapists, midwives and doulas. If the doctor feels an adjustment is contraindicated, we will help guide you to another health profession. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, you should visit your medical doctor or call 911.

  • How early can I bring my baby in for an adjustment?

We can adjust babies as soon as they are born so bring those beautiful, squishy cheeked bundles of joy to us.

Birth is a traumatic experience for a baby. The word ‘traumatic’ could be related to the extreme change they just experienced or the baby may have had a rough entry into this world. Either way, the doctors at PFC are trained to help your newborns body transition from womb to your arms.

  • What techniques do the doctors use?

The doctors at PFC use techniques such as diversified, activator, drop tables and the Webster Technique. It depends on what is best for you and to achieve your adjustment.

  • Why do I sometimes hear a popping noise and sometimes I do not?

When connective tissue is gently stretched, pockets of gas can also release. This creates the “popping” noise you hear during an adjustment. When you do not hear that noise, don’t be concerned. You are getting the therapeutic benefit of an adjustment and the joint is making a move the way it needs to.

  • How often do I need to have appointments?

The doctors will discuss their recommended plan of care during your second visit. We do not follow a cookie-cutter recipe, but instead we analyze everyone individually to determine the best care plan. Routine and maintenance visits at PFC are important to maintain proper spinal alignment, function and health maintenance. Similar to dental hygiene and visiting your dentist on a regular basis.
